You are here:

I.  Policy

All employees who resign or retire from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) must complete an exit interview with the Human Resources Division (HR).

II.  Procedure

A.  Upon submitting a resignation or retirement letter, the employee must contact (HR) and schedule an exit interview prior to his or her last working day.

B.  The exit interview will be conducted by a (HR) Representative. The employee will be asked a standard set of questions and given an opportunity to discuss any concerns or information that he or she feels would be beneficial to the HCSO concerning his or her employment. Employees will also have an opportunity to ask any questions regarding insurance, benefits, final paychecks, references, or any other matters relating to employment.

C.  At the conclusion of the interview, the employee will be expected to return all HCSO property if the property has not already been returned to his or her immediate supervisor.

D.  If an employee is unable to schedule an exit interview, he or she has an option to complete a written exit interview questionnaire.

E.  Once completed, the exit interview will be placed in the employee’s personnel file.

F.  All information obtained through the exit interview is confidential and will be analyzed routinely by (HR) in order to identify and determine problems that may need to be addressed.
